Once upon a time in about 2015 we came together as a group of developers, sound engineers, graphic designers and social engineers to put together this platform after being inspired by a video aired by one of our beloved female activist Adeola Fayehun with her "Keeping it real" when she presented a Nigerian in this small village who created a working generator using water.
This was overwelming that we then discussed how many creative Africans are out there with such great inventions but have never been heard or their inventions have been exploited by others to make wealth for themselve while our very own inventors perish in poverty. It was therefore, this that drove us into the development of Umojami a place to showcase your creative skills as we believe it is in every African to be creative. Therefore, providing a bubble or space for them to express this talents will bring exposure, cut back on exploitation and present Africa to the world as creators and not consumers.
We believe as Africans we have been reduce to sharing pictures, gossips, and contributing on other networks in ways that lead us nowhere but keep us in this loop of only following. We believe there is more we can offer and we need our own space to be able to express ourselve in the likes of us.
Our mission is to give every creative African a space, a voice and to show them to the world. We believe that everyone deserves to have a voice, and that the world is a better place when we listen, share and build a community through our stories.
Freedom of Expression
We believe that people should be able to speak freely, share opinions, foster open dialogue, and that creative freedom leads to new voices, formats and possibilities.
Freedom of Information
We believe that everyone should have easy, open access to information and that video is a powerful force for education, building understanding and documenting world events, big and small.
Freedom of Opportunity
We believe that everyone should have a chance to be discovered, build a business and succeed on their own terms, and that people – not gatekeepers – decide what's popular. That is why we will never request funds from you to develop and share our services. We believe in using the little we have to make the most of it, so as you.
Freedom to Belong
We believe that everyone should be able to find communities of support, break down barriers, transcend borders and come together around shared interests and passions.
